DREAMS & NIGHTMARES

LeBron James discreetly hinted at joining the Philadelphia 76ers months ago, but you weren’t paying attention.

“How?” you may ask.

However, the title of the collection quickly received backlash.

“Why?” you may ask.

The Nike LeBron release was undeniably inspired by Mill’s “Dreams & Nightmares” era, as the collection even included a t-shirt with a graphic resembling Mill’s “Dream Chasers 3” mixtape cover art.

The striking similarities between the campaigns, of course, prompted discourse online, making the perfect conditions for James to make a tactful decision.

Instead of paying attention to the signs, we became engulfed in the uproar, outrage, and drama surrounding the commonalities of the two campaigns, neglecting to ask why there are so many commonalities.

Why use “Dreams & Nightmares”?

The Philadelphia 76ers have not won the NBA championships since 1983, seeking redemption every year since then, thus feeding into themes of Mill’s “Dreams & Nightmares.” Nevertheless, with James added to the 76ers’ roster, their chances of winning are currently higher than ever.

James formally announced his decision to join the Philadelphia 76ers via social media by sharing a reel using the ultimate Philly anthem:

“Dreams & Nightmares”

officially connecting the dots of the campaign and commencing what may be the greatest storyline in NBA history.
